Excursion to food forest Amsterdamse Bos

At the heart of the Amsterdamse Bos is an extraordinary food garden, where the principles of forest agriculture are applied in an innovative way. At a time when food often has to come from far away, the Food Forest shows that healthy and sustainable food can also be produced close to home.

The Food Forest offers numerous benefits for soil, animals, insects and people. Every plant, shrub and tree in this ecosystem produces edible products. Volunteers are passionate about maintaining this fertile oasis, contributing to a greener and healthier future.

This afternoon, we will be shown around by Ferdinand Kuurman, coordinator at the food forest. He tells us all about the idea behind the forest, about what grows and flourishes there and about how the food forest is managed by volunteers.
